Club Captains

Being named as a Vipers Club Captain is an accomplishment to be especially proud of. The role will be essential to growing and developing the core values of our club - community care, work hard, have fun. It will also help showcase to the community our club's passion, spirit, and sportsmanship. The player selected for this position will be an individual who has demonstrated strong leadership skills, a commitment to Vipers Netball Club and who is a positive role model for all members of our club.

Nomination and Selection Process

To be eligible for Senior Club Captain you must be turning 16yrs or older in 2025.
To be eligible for Junior Club Captain you must be turning 12-15yrs in 2025. 

Please submit your expression of interest in any media format you would like.  This may be a letter, email, short video, tiktok or other media.  Feel free to be creative!  A range of selection criteria will be considered, so please ensure you address them in your application.

Criteria that will be considered:
  • Have you been a registered member of the Vipers Netball Club for at least one season and are a registered member in 2025?
  • Do you have a passion for netball and supporting your local community? Please give examples. 
  • How have you positively contributed to the Vipers Netball Club so far?
  • Are you willing to provide leadership and be a positive role model and mentor?
  • Are you innovative and willing to contribute new ideas to make netball fun and positive for all players that you represent?  What are some of those ideas? 
  • Is there anything else that sets you apart and would make you a great club captain?

All applications must be sent to president@vipersnetball.com.au and received by 5 April 2025.  The Vipers Management Committee will carefully consider the merits of each application and announce the successful candidates within 7 days of the closing date.

The Club Captains will:

  • Represent the playing body of the club, and provide mentorship to junior and senior club players.  
  • Develop and put forward ideas and initiatives to maximise enjoyment and engagement of the players within the club.
  • Assist with organising and running social events.
  • Provide a warm and welcoming introduction to new members of the club and assist in facilitating a smooth transition, whether the player is new to the sport of netball or simply new to the club.
  • Encourage active member participation in club activities.  This involves the organisation of age-appropriate social activities and encouraging participation in voluntary activities.
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining a positive and vibrant club atmosphere, and a favourable experience for all members. 
  • Attend and support a variety of the club’s games throughout the season, and encourage participation from other club members. 
  • Coordinate whole club involvement in supporting teams who have achieved a position in semi-, prelim-, or grand-finals at the end of the season (with the support of the management committee).
  • Be actively involved in mentoring of peers and younger players.
  • Be available to assist a variety of teams and coaches on regular training nights. 
  • Provide a voice for athletes at the club and raise any issues to the committee when necessary
